The Challenge

Pacific Grove resident and political activist Nancy McCollough launched a grassroots get-out-the-vote initiative. Known initially as Roe Your Vote, the project aimed to mobilize women voters in battleground states and focused on three core goals: energize new and infrequent women voters; support Democratic candidates committed to protecting women’s healthcare and bodily autonomy; and defend women’s voting rights. Each voter receives a gift of kindness and care delivered as a hand-made card to use as they please, along with election information.

The Approach

Partnering with Nancy to help her navigate event creation and promotion online, Christina expanded upon the project with a professional, elevated logo and social media presence on NextDoor and Facebook; strategic community partnerships with the PG Progressives; bespoke event coordination; and local fundraising. The series of public hands-on workshops have been held at farmer’s markets, the local library, private homes, and coffee shops, allowing anyone to use their art and creativity in the fight.

The Results

The project continues to tap into Pacific Grove’s generous spirit, achieving results that were beyond Nancy’s original ambitious goal. Hundreds of enthusiastic participants, representing all ages and diverse backgrounds, have participated. Whether they are crafting or addressing over 10,000 heartfelt cards bound for districts in North Carolina and Texas, sourcing donations of essential art supplies, or fundraising for the effort with thousands of dollars’ worth of postage stamps, every single act performed is a powerful affirmation of the commitment to preserving voting rights across America.
